Who can apply: The public.
Only U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the United States may apply. You must provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
Experience: One year of specialized experience comparable to GS-7 that includes performing diagnostic MRI exams or helping radiologists with harder procedures, and doing quality assurance work. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts.
Education: One and a half years of graduate-level education in a field directly related to the job, such as radiology. You can also combine education and experience, but the combined percentage must be at least 100%. Education must come from a school accredited by an accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be evaluated as equivalent to U.S. accredited education.
Licenses and certifications:
- Radiographer certification in your field, as required by Public Law 97-35 and 42 CFR Part 75
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or willingness to obtain and keep it
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 10 days (November 13, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your full application package, including your resume, supporting documents, and questionnaire answers, is reviewed against the qualification requirements. Missing documents, errors, or omissions can make you ineligible, and inflated qualifications can cause you to lose consideration.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Attach a copy of your radiographer certification and BLS card, since a missing license copy means you are rated ineligible.
- Keep your resume to two pages or less and list hours per week for each job, or it may be removed.
- Submit by 11:59 PM EST on 11/13/2026, and re-select your other documents in the online application or it may be incomplete.
