Military Treatment Facilities under DHA · Department of Defense
This job in plain English
This is a full-time, permanent Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (CT) job at WINN Army Medical Hospital in Fort Stewart, Georgia, run by the Military Treatment Facilities under the Defense Health Agency. The job may require working any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, or on call, and occasional travel.
Can you apply?
Yes, if you are a U.S. citizen: this job is open to everyone.
- Open to everyoneAny U.S. citizen or national can apply. Some jobs also accept non-citizens; the announcement says so.
Only U.S. citizens may apply, and you must provide proof of citizenship. Veterans and military spouses are considered along with all other candidates.
What you would do
- Perform CT scans and x-rays on patients.
- Receive patients, explain procedures, and position them for exams.
- Prepare scanning rooms with sterile supplies, contrast materials, and equipment.
- Prepare and give IV contrast and a few approved drugs under radiologist direction.
- Train new employees, both civilian and military.
Do you qualify for GS-8?
With experience: You need one year of specialized experience at the GS-7 level. This means performing radiology exams, including CT, and setting up x-ray rooms or preparing or giving contrast material. You must meet this with experience alone, not education.
With education: One and a half years of graduate-level education in a directly related field, such as Diagnostic Radiology or Radiography, may qualify you in some cases. Education cannot replace experience at this grade. Education must come from schools accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accreditor, and foreign education needs a formal equivalency evaluation.
Licenses and certifications you need:
- Radiographer certification in your field, meeting federal credentialing standards (Public Law 97-35, 42 CFR Part 75)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross within 30 days of hire
How to apply well
What to send:
- Resume of two pages or less showing employer, job title, dates (month and year), hours per week, and duties
- Copy of your radiographer certification or license, or you will be rated ineligible
- Official transcripts if you qualify through education
- Proof of U.S. citizenship
- Most recent performance appraisal, if applicable
- Documents proving veterans' preference, if you claim it
- Optional cover letter
How you will be rated: Your application is checked against the qualification requirements using your resume, questionnaire answers, and supporting documents. Incomplete packages, missing required documents, or resumes longer than two pages can remove you from consideration, and inflated experience can also cost you consideration.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must be two pages or less and clearly show CT and contrast material experience with start and end dates and hours per week.
- Upload a copy of your radiographer certification or license with your application, or you will be rated ineligible.
- Apply by 11:59 PM EST on 11/06/2026, and allow time for uploaded documents to clear the virus scan, which can take up to an hour.
