Who can apply: The public.

Experience: You need 1 year of specialized experience, meaning work that included prophylactic (teeth cleaning) procedures, oral examinations, and performing or interpreting routine x-rays, at a level comparable to GS-7. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts.
Education: This job does not have an education qualification requirement. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone; education cannot replace experience.
Licenses and certifications:
- Current state dental hygienist license, issued in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Radiology credentials under Public Law 97-35, such as certification as a radiographer
