Who can apply: The public.
Open to U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals only. Veterans' preference does not apply because this job is under Title 7 authorities, which are not federal civil service rules.
Experience: At least one year of general work experience supporting agricultural operations, government programs, or office and customer service work qualifies you for grade CO-5. For CO-7 or CO-9, you need one year of specialized experience at the CO-5 or GS-5 level, or at the CO-7 or GS-7 level in federal service, that shows knowledge of agricultural program rules.
Education: Four years of education above high school at an accredited college or university, or a bachelor's degree, qualifies you for CO-5. For CO-7, one full year of graduate education, or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement (3.0 GPA, 3.5 GPA in your major's last two years, upper third of your class, or membership in a national honor society), qualifies. For CO-9, a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full academic years of graduate study toward one, qualifies.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 8 days (November 12, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your application and online Assessment Questionnaire are checked to see if you meet the minimum qualifications, and your resume must clearly support your answers. Inflated or inaccurate qualifications, or missing information, may make you ineligible or lower your rating.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must show job titles, grades, month/year dates, and hours worked per week for each job, or that time may not count.
- If you use education to qualify, upload an unofficial transcript showing course numbers, titles, credit hours and grades.
- Keep files under 5MB, unencrypted, and in a standard format such as PDF or Word; do not use Adobe Portfolio files.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
