Who can apply: The public.
Only U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals can apply. Veterans' preference does not apply because this job is advertised under Title 7 authorities.
Experience: You can start at CO-5 with at least one year of general work experience supporting agricultural operations, agricultural management, government programs, or related office and customer service work. Higher starting levels need one year of experience at the level just below, such as one year of experience equivalent to GS-7 in agricultural program policies for CO-9, or one year of any supervisory experience for CO-9.
Education: Four years of education above high school at an accredited college or university, or a bachelor's degree, can qualify you for CO-5. One full year of graduate education, or a bachelor's degree with a 3.0 GPA, upper-third class standing, or membership in a qualifying honor society, can qualify you for CO-7. A master's degree, or two full academic years of graduate study leading to one, can qualify you for CO-9. You can also combine education and experience.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 9 days (November 12, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your application, including the online Assessment Questionnaire, is reviewed to see whether you meet the minimum qualifications and whether your resume supports your answers. If the review finds you have inflated your qualifications or experience, you may be found ineligible.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must show the job title, grade, employment dates by month and year, and hours per week for each job, or that experience may not count.
- If you are or were a federal or FSA county employee, list the grade for each job on your resume.
- If you use education to qualify, upload a college transcript with your application. An unofficial copy is acceptable at first.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
