Who can apply: The public.
Open to the public, but only U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. You must prove U.S. citizenship.
Experience: You need one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level. This means conducting mental health assessments, providing individual and group treatment, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts. Education cannot replace experience.
Education: A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a private organization that specializes in foreign education and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program, or given full credit by a U.S. accredited college or university. Education cannot replace experience at this grade.
Licenses and certifications:
- Current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice psychology independently from a U.S. state, D.C., territory, or similar jurisdiction
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
