Who can apply: The public.
The job is open to the public, meaning U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. Current and former federal employees with competitive or excepted status may also apply, and current federal employees at GS-15 and one level below may apply, but GS-13 and below are not eligible.
Experience: You need at least 15 years of experience conducting, managing, and leading offensive counterintelligence operations (OFCO/A). The announcement does not name a grade for this experience.
Education: The lowest accepted education level is a bachelor's degree. You must also be a graduate of a U.S. government counterintelligence Special Agent credentialing course.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 2 days (October 30, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
The job may close before the closing date once 100 applications are received.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your resume and documents are reviewed to check basic qualifications, and the best qualified are referred to the hiring manager. The essay answers are not scored, but missing documents or a resume over two pages may lead to removal from consideration.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Sensitive Compartmented Information), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Make your resume two pages or less and include the month, day, and year of each job's dates plus hours per week.
- If you are a federal employee, include an SF-50 dated within the last 52 weeks, or you may be found ineligible.
- Current ODNI employees must apply through JobsDNI, or the application will be removed.
