In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Q Access Authorization), then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • Your resume should show, for each job, the hours worked per week and the federal series and grade if applicable.
  • Send transcripts for each degree, and make sure they show the school name, your name, the degree and the date awarded.
  • Send two writing samples that you wrote yourself, and mark which parts you wrote if a sample was co-authored.
