Who can apply: The public.
Only U.S. citizens can apply. The announcement says this job is open to the public, and the agency clarified that all U.S. citizens may apply.
Experience: You need one year of generalized experience at a level like GS-4 for the GS-5 grade, and one year of experience at a level like GS-5 for the GS-6 grade, both within federal service. For GS-5 specialized experience, you need clerical or administrative work that supports processing business transactions using standard procedures. For GS-6 specialized experience, you need financial work that supports processing financial transactions, such as reviewing documents for accuracy, entering financial information into a system, or correcting invalid transactions. Experience must be clearly described in your resume.
Education: Four years of education above high school in any field can replace the GS-5 specialized experience. Six months of graduate education directly related to the job can replace the GS-6 specialized experience. Transcripts must be submitted with your application, and the school must be accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accreditor.
Licenses and certifications:
- Level 1 Financial Management Certification from the DoD Financial Management Certification Program, obtained within two years of starting
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

Closes in 7 days (November 10, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
The agency may close this announcement early or extend it, and may select candidates at any point during the open period.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You will be rated on how well your resume and application answers meet the listed requirements. Errors or missing information may affect your rating or make you ineligible.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Other), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must clearly show your experience and dates so reviewers can match it to the specialized experience
- If you use education instead of experience, you must submit transcripts when you apply, or your education will not be counted
- Submit all required documents by 11:59 PM EST on the closing date, or you may be rated ineligible
