1 Check the conditions You are here
Civil servants (titulaires) and contract workers can apply. A person without a civil service exam can be hired directly, as the entry grade is category C.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Heavy goods vehicle licence required; FIMO and FCO preferred.
- Drive carefully, including in bad weather.
- Follow the highway code, collection rules and safety rules.
- Know lifting techniques and hygiene rules.
- Know the types of waste and their dangers.
- Read a map and remember collection routes.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Work Monday to Friday, outdoors, in all weather.
- Morning (5:00 to 12:24) or evening (19:45 to 03:09) shifts.
- Personal protective equipment is mandatory.
- Transport aid and social benefits (holiday vouchers, health cover).
