Territorial civil servants at the grade of principal conservation assistant, 2nd class, can apply. A contract worker can be hired if no civil servant application succeeded.
Category: Category B (intermediate)
Diploma: DUT or DEUST in book professions, professional bachelor's degree or other library science diploma, or significant experience in the field
Experience: Not stated; significant experience in the field can replace the diploma
The profile they look for:
- Expertise in public reading and library science.
- Good command of digital tools and library software.
- Ability to design, run and evaluate cultural projects.
- Management and team coordination skills.
- Knowledge of local authorities and administrative procedures.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Driving licence (permit B) required for the service vehicle.
- Remote work up to 2 days a week after 4 months in the job.
- Working time of 35 or 37 hours, with 12 extra RTT days on top of paid leave.
- Occasional evening work outside normal hours.
