Civil servants and contract staff can apply. The grades concerned are engineer, technician and their senior grades. A contract worker can only be hired if no civil servant application has succeeded.
Category: Category B (intermediate)
Experience: Experienced candidate.
The profile they look for:
- Technical knowledge of buildings, roads and environment.
- Knowledge of how local authorities work.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety rules.
- Basic knowledge of public procurement and budget management.
- Ability to organise, plan and manage a team.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Driving licence (permis B) required.
- Available outside normal hours in emergencies; on-call duty possible.
- Work outdoors and in the office, exposed to weather.
- Frequent travel around the town.
