Territorial civil servants (technician grade) and contract staff can apply. A contract worker can only be hired if no civil servant application has succeeded.
Category: Category B (intermediate)
Diploma: Engineer in building services (TCE) or equivalent (desired)
The profile they look for:
- Know public procurement rules (code des marchés publics).
- Know construction, road and network methods.
- Know energy saving and sustainable development.
- Be able to work on projects.
- Show rigour, discretion and efficiency.
- Respect staff, other departments and elected officials.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- A driving licence is essential.
- On-call duties (astreintes) and possible work at height.
- Full time, office hours (39 hours per week).
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is compulsory on construction sites.
