Civil servants in the early childhood educator job groups can apply. Contract staff can also be hired, under article L332-8 of the general civil service code, when no civil servant application has succeeded.
Category: Category A (executive)
Diploma: Bac+2 or higher, for example early childhood educator, children's nurse (puéricultrice), social worker or family economics adviser
Experience: Experience in an RPE
The profile they look for:
- Know the missions and workings of an RPE
- Know child development and suitable teaching approaches
- Know management tools and the rules on employer-employee relations
- Master management skills (conflict handling, interviews, group facilitation)
- Know how to travel across a large rural area
- Show a sense of public service, initiative and autonomy
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
