Civil servants of the local public service can apply, for the psychologist grades (classe normale or hors-classe). Contract staff can also apply, for a post vacant until a civil servant is recruited.
Category: Category A (executive)
Diploma: Bac+5 or higher in psychology
Experience: Experienced candidates
The profile they look for:
- Know how the local authority and the social and educational sector work.
- Know psychological approaches: clinical, psychopathology, psychoanalysis.
- Have some knowledge of ethnopsychiatry and anthropology.
- Have good writing skills.
- Be able to work in a team and in a network.
- Driving licence (permis B) required.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Driving licence (permis B) required.
- Frequent travel across the area.
- Long working hours, to meet children and parents outside work and school hours.
- Remote work is not possible.
