Civil servants and contract workers can apply. The job is also open to people who did not pass a public exam, because the entry grade of category C allows direct hiring.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Know how to diagnose and repair light vehicles, vans, heavy trucks and machines.
- Make sure equipment is reliable and safe, with rigour and precision.
- Work well in a team and share your know-how.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Open to people with disabilities, under article 352-4 of the General Code of the Civil Service.
- The job is vacant from 1 January 2027.
- According to the offer, a contract worker's contract cannot exceed one year, renewable up to 2 years in total (article L332-14).
