Civil servants and contract staff can apply. Direct hiring is possible without a competitive exam, because the entry grade of category C allows it.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Driving licences B, C and BE required.
- Serious, rigorous, honest and punctual.
- Team spirit and ability to adapt.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills appreciated (ATAL).
- Knowledge of the fire service appreciated but not required.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.

- Takes part in one evening per month dressing new volunteer firefighters.
