Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person who has not passed a civil service exam can be hired directly, because the grade is category C.

The profile they look for:
- Basic knowledge of mechanics and electromechanics.
- Heavy goods vehicle licence and FIMO required.
- Safety knowledge, including road signage on public roads.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Sense of responsibility and initiative.
- Public service mindset.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Work in unhealthy conditions, including going down into sewer networks.
- On-call duty of 1 to 2 weeks per year and occasional night work.
- Working time of 30h30 on a rota, one week in two.
- RIF CHAUFFEUR job bonus, subject to having a heavy goods licence and FIMO.
