Civil servants in category A whose final index is at least hors-échelle B can apply. People without civil servant status can also apply if they have held comparable responsibilities.
Category: Category A+ (senior management)
Experience: At least six years of varied professional experience.
The profile they look for:
- Strong management skills and proven ability to lead.
- Experience in crisis management and administrative steering.
- Knowledge of prison law and criminal and prison policies.
- Solid background in property, budget and human resources management.
- Good listening and communication skills, and high adaptability.
- High availability to keep the public prison service running.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply
No deadline given: the offer can be withdrawn at any time, do not wait.
Send your application by email to the addresses given in the offer, within 15 days of publication in the Journal officiel.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Group II post. A declaration of interests is required before taking up the role.
- Pay has two fixed parts, plus an annual bonus based on performance.
- People who are not civil servants must complete a course on ethics and the public service.
- The post may become vacant from 1 August 2026.
