1 Check the conditions You are here
Civil servants (permanent staff) and contract agents can apply. A person who has not passed a civil service competition can be hired, because the grade offered is an entry grade in category C.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Category B and C driving licences and FIMO required
- CACES R490 (auxiliary crane) strongly preferred
- Sense of responsibility, autonomy and teamwork
- Basic knowledge of mechanics
- Public service mindset and care for users
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Full-time, 35 hours per week
- Shifted hours, from 5am to 12pm, sometimes changed for service needs
- Outdoor work, mostly alone during collection rounds
- Work on weekends and public holidays, on a schedule set in advance
