Diploma: CAP petite enfance (early childhood vocational certificate)
The profile they look for:
- Hold the CAP petite enfance diploma
- Be a holder of the ATSEM civil service competitive exam
- Support child development from age 2
- Apply basic hygiene and safety rules
- Manage conflicts and communicate well
- Have a sense of organisation
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Category C job, open to adjoint technique and ATSEM grades.
- A contract worker cannot be hired for more than 3 years, renewable up to 6 years in total.
- The job may include supervising the school canteen and leisure activities.
