Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person who has not passed a competitive exam can be hired directly, because an entry-level category C grade allows it.
Category: Category C (staff)
Diploma: CAP Petite Enfance (or equivalent level V diploma)
Experience: Preferred in after-school care, school catering or cleaning.
The profile they look for:
- CAP Petite Enfance or equivalent level V diploma.
- Knowledge of nursery children's needs.
- Good command of cleaning and maintenance techniques.
- Teaching skills, patience and good contact with people.
- Teamwork and discretion about children's and families' information.
- Ability to adapt to unexpected events and to work alone.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply
Deadline: November 1 (Closes in 4 days)

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Position vacant from 1 January 2027.
- Meals shared with the children, included in working time.
- Training paid for by the local authority.
- Internal promotion possible after an exam or seniority.
