Civil servants and contract staff can apply. The open grades are ATSEM principal 1st class and ATSEM principal 2nd class.
Category: Category C (staff)
Diploma: CAP AEPE, or ATSEM competitive exam
Experience: Experienced; ideally a similar post in a local authority
The profile they look for:
- Holds a CAP AEPE or has passed the ATSEM competitive exam.
- Ideally has successful experience in a similar local authority job.
- Knows and follows hygiene and safety rules (Vigipirate, fire).
- Ideally has food hygiene skills (HACCP).
- Well organised, patient and a good listener.
- Reacts well to unexpected situations and takes initiative.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Annualised working hours.
- Remote work not possible.
- Duties also during school holidays and Wednesdays.
