Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person who has not passed a civil service exam can be hired directly, because the grade offered is an entry grade in category C (adjoint technique).
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- Very flexible availability and irregular hours.
- Follows health and safety rules at work.
- Comfortable dealing with councillors and the public.
- Able to cope with physically demanding work (lifting, noise, standing for long periods).
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply
Deadline: November 3 (Closes in 2 days)
Apply on the employer's website. Also send your CV and cover letter by post to the town hall, for the attention of the Mayor.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Mostly works alone, sometimes in a small team.
- Constant travel between work sites.
- Irregular hours with a large daily range, depending on service needs.
- Remote work is not possible.
