Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person without a civil service exam can be hired directly, because the grade is an entry grade in category C (adjoint technique).
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- Very available, irregular hours possible.
- Constant travel between work sites.
- Accept hard conditions: noise, lifting loads, standing for long periods.
- Frequent contact with councillors and residents.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Apply on the employer's website, or send your CV and cover letter to the town hall by post or email, as stated in the offer.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Remote work not possible.
- Irregular hours and strong seasonal peaks depending on weather.
- Work clothing required.
