Civil servants (titulaires) and contract staff can apply. A contract worker can be hired if no civil servant has applied.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Knowledge of rules for public buildings (ERP), health standards and emergency procedures.
- Knowledge of correct lifting and posture for carrying heavy loads.
- Knowledge of storage and tidying principles.
- Knowledge of how local government services are organised.
- Experience driving a heavy goods vehicle.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Work in the evenings, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
- Outdoor work in all weather, with heavy lifting.
- Possible physical and emotional tension at work.
