Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A contract worker can be hired if no civil servant application succeeds. The entry grade allows direct hiring without a competitive exam.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Know how to maintain and repair roads and road structures.
- Know the Highway Code and the departmental road network.
- Be able to handle crisis or emergency situations.
- Follow procedures, safety rules and hygiene rules.
- Work in a team and report on your actions.
- Car and heavy goods vehicle licences required.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Night and weekend work possible, with on-call duty in winter.
- You must be able to reach the operations centre in under 15 minutes.
- Frequent travel.
