Open to civil servants (titulaires) and contract agents. A person who has not passed a civil service exam can be hired, because the entry grade in category C allows direct recruitment.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Category B and category C (heavy goods vehicle) driving licences required.
- Knowledge of road maintenance techniques and equipment.
- Knowledge of the highway code.
- Ability to apply signage, hygiene and safety rules.
- Ability to drive heavy goods vehicles.
- Team spirit and a sense of public service.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Team work, with fixed hours in winter and summer.
- On-call duty linked to winter and summer road maintenance.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is compulsory.
- Open grades: adjoint technique, adjoint technique principal 1st or 2nd class.
