Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person who has not passed a civil service exam can be hired directly, because the entry grade in category C allows it.

- Know road maintenance techniques
- Know safety rules for workers and road users
- Know the rules for road signs and road equipment
- Be able to report to your manager
- Use computer tools and job software
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Send your CV and cover letter, preferably through the employer's recruitment website named in the official offer.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- On-call duty all year: you may need to act within 30 minutes of a call
- Driving licence B, C and CE requested
- Unusual hours possible, and work outside normal hours in winter gritting or emergencies
- Work clothes and personal protective equipment (PPE) are compulsory
