Open to civil servants and contract workers. A person who has not passed a civil service exam can be hired, because the adjoint technique grade (category C) is an entry grade.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- High availability and irregular hours depending on service needs.
- Constant travel between work sites.
- Frequent contact with elected officials, residents and suppliers.
- Follows health and safety rules at work.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Send your CV and cover letter to the Mayor, by post or by email to the town hall.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Remote work is not possible.
- Irregular hours and hard working conditions (noise, lifting, dangerous products).
- Very seasonal work, with peaks linked to weather.
- No management role.
