Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person who has not passed a civil service exam can be hired directly, because the entry grade is category C.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Work alone, sometimes in a small team
- Travel constantly between work sites
- Be very available, with possibly irregular hours
- Cope with hard conditions: noise, lifting, dangerous products
- Have frequent contact with elected officials, staff, residents and suppliers
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Send your CV and cover letter to the town hall, or apply on the employer's site. The offer is published on Choisir le Service Public.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Hours may be irregular, with strong seasonal peaks linked to weather.
- Job is physically demanding: noise, lifting, dangerous products.
