The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- High availability and irregular hours depending on the service.
- Constant travel between work sites.
- Follows health and safety rules at work.
- Frequent contact with elected officials, staff and the public.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Hours can be irregular or shifted, with wide daily variations.
- Physical job: lifting loads, noise, long periods standing.
- Very seasonal work, with peaks linked to the weather.
- Wearing suitable work clothing is required.
