Civil servants (titulaires) and contract staff can apply. A person without a civil service exam can be hired directly, because the post is open at entry-level grades of category C.

The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- Very available, with sometimes irregular working hours.
- Frequent travel between work sites.
- Accepts a job with physical hardship.
- Frequent contact with councillors, staff and residents.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

You can apply on the employer's website. You can also submit your application at the town hall or send it by email.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Remote work is not possible.
- Hours can be irregular or shifted, with long daily spans.
- Physically demanding job: noise, lifting loads, dangerous machinery.
- Very seasonal work, with peaks linked to the weather.
