Civil servants and contract workers can apply. A person who has not passed a competitive exam can be hired, because the grade is an entry grade in category C.
Category: Category C (staff)
Experience: Experienced candidates.
The profile they look for:
- Work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- Be very available, with irregular hours depending on the service.
- Travel constantly between work sites.
- Cope with hard conditions: noise, lifting, dangerous equipment.
- Have frequent contact with councillors, staff, residents and suppliers.
- Follow health and safety rules.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Send your CV and cover letter by email or by post to the town hall, or drop them at the reception desk. You can also apply on the employer's website linked in the offer.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Remote work is not possible.
- Hours can be irregular, with a large daily range.
- Seasonal work, with peaks linked to the weather.
- Work clothing must be worn.
