Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person who has not passed a civil service exam can be hired directly, because the entry grade is category C (adjoint technique).
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone or in a small team.
- Very available, and willing to work irregular hours.
- Travel all the time between work sites.
- Able to cope with physical strain: lifting loads, noise, standing for long periods.
- Follow health and safety rules and wear the right work clothing.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Apply on the employer's website linked in the offer, or send your CV and cover letter by post to the town hall.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Irregular hours possible, with strong seasonal peaks linked to the weather.
- Job exposed to noise, lifting loads and dangerous machinery.
