Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person who has not passed a civil service exam can be hired directly, because the grade offered is an entry grade in category C (adjoint technique).
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- High availability and irregular hours.
- Frequent travel between work sites.
- Follows health and safety rules at work.
- Regular contact with elected officials, residents and suppliers.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Send your CV and cover letter to the town hall, by post or by email.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Irregular hours with a wide range of times, depending on service needs.
- Physically demanding work: noise, lifting loads, dangerous machines, polluting products.
- Very seasonal work, with peaks linked to the weather.
- Remote work not possible.
