1 Check the conditions You are here
Civil servants and contract agents can apply. A person who has not passed a civil service competition can be hired, because the entry grade of category C allows direct recruitment.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- Be very available, with irregular working hours.
- Travel constantly between work sites.
- Cope with hard conditions: noise, lifting loads, dangerous products.
- Wear suitable work clothing.
- Be in contact with elected officials, staff and residents.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Send your application by email to the town hall, at the address given in the offer, or apply on the employer's website.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Remote work not possible.
- Irregular hours with a large daily range.
- Job involves physically demanding and hard working conditions.
- Positions open at the adjoint technique and adjoint technique principal 2nd class grades.
