1 Check the conditions You are here
Civil servants (titulaires) and contract staff can apply. A person who did not pass a civil service competition can be hired, because the grade offered is an entry grade in category C.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- High availability and irregular or shifted working hours.
- Frequent travel between sites with a service vehicle.
- Able to cope with hard conditions: noise, lifting, dangerous products.
- Frequent contact with elected officials, staff, residents and suppliers.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply
Deadline: November 15 (Closes in 15 days)
Send your CV and cover letter by email to the commune, as stated in the offer. You can also apply on the employer's website.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- The work is often done alone, using a service vehicle.
- Hours may be irregular, with a long span of hours each day.
- The work is very seasonal, with peaks linked to the weather.
- The job involves hard conditions: noise, heavy loads, polluting products.
