Civil servants and contract staff can apply. An entry-level category C grade allows direct hiring without a competitive exam.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Able to work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- Very flexible, with irregular hours depending on the service.
- Frequent travel between work sites.
- Regular contact with councillors, residents and suppliers.
- Driving licence (permis B) required.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Apply on the employer's site, or send your CV and cover letter to the town hall office, by post or by email.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Driving licence (permis B) required.
- Sometimes working alone, with irregular hours and strong seasonal peaks.
- Physically demanding job: noise, lifting loads, dangerous products.
- Remote work is not possible.
