Civil servants (titulaires) and contract workers can apply. A person who did not pass a civil service competition can be hired, because the entry grade (adjoint technique, category C) allows direct recruitment.
Category: Category C (staff)
The profile they look for:
- Work alone, sometimes in a small team.
- Travel constantly between work sites.
- Be very available.
- Accept irregular or shifted working hours.
- Cope with hard physical conditions: lifting loads, noise, standing for long periods.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

Apply through the employer's website, or send a cover letter with a CV by email or by post to the town hall.
4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Remote work is not possible.
- Irregular hours, sometimes shifted, depending on service needs.
- Physical and exposed job: noise, lifting loads, dangerous products.
- Very seasonal work, with peaks linked to the weather.
