Civil servants in the technical assistant grades of teaching establishments can apply, and so can contract workers. A person who has not passed a competition can be hired directly, because the grade is an entry grade in category C.
Category: Category C (staff)
Diploma: A diploma in the field is preferred, level not stated.
Experience: Experience in a school setting preferred, no number of years stated.
The profile they look for:
- Know hygiene and safety rules, including HACCP food safety.
- Basic skills in electrics, plumbing, painting or bricklaying.
- Able to use tools such as a brush cutter or lawn mower.
- Respect working hours, the schedule and safety instructions.
- Team spirit, discretion and a sense of confidentiality.
- Able to adapt and handle situations quickly.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- A driving licence (category B) is preferred.
- Annual working time of 40 to 44 hours per week, shifted hours and changing schedule.
- Wearing personal protective equipment is mandatory.
- The employer may organise tests or practical assessments.
