Civil servants and contract staff can apply. A person without a civil service exam can be hired, because the adjoint technique grade is a category C entry grade.
Category: Category C (staff)
Experience: Experienced candidates requested.
The profile they look for:
- Know the nutritional needs of children.
- Apply hygiene and safety rules.
- Be able to supervise and engage children.
- Be organised, watchful and quick to react.
- Be able to work alone and in a team.
- Show patience and teaching skills.
2 Résumé and cover letter
A one- or two-page résumé and a short cover letter that takes up the duties of the offer with your examples. If you are a civil servant, you are often asked for your latest status decision (arrêté) and your latest annual review reports.
3 Apply

4 Interview and answer
If your application is shortlisted, the employer contacts you for an interview, often with two or three people. Prepare: why this job, your experience close to the duties, and your questions.
Good to know:
- Split hours according to annual schedules; you move between schools.
- Protective clothing required at the canteen: apron or tabard, clogs, gloves, hairnet.
- Lifting, repetitive movements and awkward postures.
- Part-time post, less than 50% of working time.
