Do you qualify for GS-8?

With experience: You need 1 year of experience at the GS-7 level, or 24 months of specialized experience. Specialized experience includes financial analysis, research, payment systems work, and pay and entitlement actions. Military part-time service counts as full-time experience if it relates to this job.

With education: Two academic years of college can count for 3 months of specialized experience. Only education beyond the second year counts toward the rest, and one full year beyond that equals 6 months. Degrees should be in accounting, business, finance, economics, math, statistics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organizational management. The school must be accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting body.

Licenses and certifications you need:

  • Financial Management Level I certification, to be completed within two years of appointment
