If you trained outside the U.S., you need at least three years of verified independent practice in the U.S.

With education: You need a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved medical school. Approved schools are accredited by the LCME or COCA, or for foreign graduates, meet ECFMG eligibility requirements.

  • Board certification is preferred, so list it clearly on your resume if you have it.
  • If you plan to claim veterans' preference, choose it in the questionnaire and attach your DD-214.
