1 Check who can apply You are here
This is an open competition, so anyone who meets the minimum requirements can apply. Out-of-province applicants can get required documents and checks from the province where they currently live.
Education: Two-year diploma in Forestry or a related Natural Resource Management field. One year of experience can replace one year of education, and the reverse.
Experience: Three years of directly related forestry or wildfire experience. Supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.
What they ask for:
- Two-year diploma in Forestry or a related natural resource field.
- Three years of directly related forestry or wildfire experience.
- Knowledge of fire behaviour, fuel types, and firefighting techniques.
2 Resume and cover letter
Tailor your resume to this posting: use its words and show each requirement with a concrete example. In Canada, leave out your photo, age and marital status. Add a short cover letter if the posting asks for one or accepts it.
3 Apply on the official site

Apply online through the official Alberta posting. Include a cover page about your interest and related experience, and a resume with months and years for all education and work.
4 Interview, tests and references
If you are shortlisted, they contact you, often by email. Interviews can be in person or by video, and some jobs also have a written or practical test. Have two or three references ready: former supervisors who know your work.
Good to know:
- Overtime, evenings, and weekends may be needed because of wildfires.
- Travel within the area and across the province is required.
- Candidates pay their own costs for required checks and interview travel.
- The competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same or lower level.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
