1 Check who can apply You are here
Anyone who meets the requirements can apply. City of Toronto employees can apply but must say so on the online form and give their employee number. They cannot hold two City jobs.
Education: Post-secondary degree in civil, environmental or water resources engineering. A master's degree is an asset. An equivalent mix of education and experience may be considered.
Experience: At least three years working on planning, design or construction of municipal storm drainage and stormwater management infrastructure. Project and contract management experience is an asset.
What they ask for:
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO
- Post-secondary degree in civil, environmental or water resources engineering
- At least three years of experience in municipal stormwater infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to write policies, procedures, strategies and guidelines
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal water regulations
2 Resume and cover letter
Tailor your resume to this posting: use its words and show each requirement with a concrete example. In Canada, leave out your photo, age and marital status. Add a short cover letter if the posting asks for one or accepts it.

4 Interview, tests and references
If you are shortlisted, they contact you, often by email. Interviews can be in person or by video, and some jobs also have a written or practical test. Have two or three references ready: former supervisors who know your work.

- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration with PEO is required
- Current City employees must identify themselves on the online form
