1 Check who can apply You are here
This is an open competition, so anyone who meets the requirements can apply. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and legally entitled to work in Canada.
Education: High school diploma. Equivalencies may be considered: one year of education can count for one year of experience, and the reverse.
Experience: At least two years of related experience. Experience in conflict management and de-escalation is required. Experience in client work, security or policing is an asset.
What they ask for:
- High school diploma plus two years of related experience
- Experience in conflict management and de-escalation
- At least 18 years old and physically capable of the duties
- Valid unrestricted Class 5 driver's licence
- Criminal record check with fingerprinting within the last six months
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level-C with AED
2 Resume and cover letter
Tailor your resume to this posting: use its words and show each requirement with a concrete example. In Canada, leave out your photo, age and marital status. Add a short cover letter if the posting asks for one or accepts it.
3 Apply on the official site
No closing date given: the posting can close at any time, do not wait.
Apply online using your legal name. Upload your resume, cover letter, Personal Disclosure Questionnaire, five-year commercial driver's abstract and criminal record check, each as a separate PDF or Word file. Missing documents can delay or invalidate your application.
4 Interview, tests and references
If you are shortlisted, they contact you, often by email. Interviews can be in person or by video, and some jobs also have a written or practical test. Have two or three references ready: former supervisors who know your work.
Good to know:
- Successful candidates join a talent pool for current and future openings, and placement depends on preferred locations and vacancies.
- A personal vehicle is usually needed because public transit to many centres is limited.
- New hires must complete a paid two-week orientation before getting shifts.
- Candidates pay their own costs for checks, documents and interview travel.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
