The competition is open, so anyone who meets the requirements can apply. To be considered for CIP 2, you must currently hold or have previously held delegation under CYFEA, through a Delegated First Nations Agency, or as a CIP in Alberta.
Education: Minimum: related certificate with 3 years of related experience (CIP 1). Other combinations accept a related degree, diploma or social work credential. Education must come from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Experience: CIP 1: 0 to 3 years of related experience, depending on education. CIP 2: 0 to 4 years of related experience, depending on education, plus mandatory delegation.
What they ask for:
- For CIP 1: social work credential, or related degree, diploma or certificate with experience
- For CIP 2: current or past delegation under CYFEA, a Delegated First Nations Agency, or as a CIP in Alberta
- For CIP 2: Master of Social Work, or a social work diploma or degree plus experience
- Related experience in child intervention, crisis response, family support or counselling
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence, vehicle registration and vehicle liability insurance
- Clear written communication in professional and inclusive language
2 Resume and cover letter

4 Interview, tests and references
If you are shortlisted, they contact you, often by email. Interviews can be in person or by video, and some jobs also have a written or practical test. Have two or three references ready: former supervisors who know your work.
Good to know:
- Successful candidates are placed in a talent pool for future openings at the same or lower levels in the location they applied to.
- Final candidates need a criminal record check with vulnerable sector, an intervention record check and reference checks.
- Travel is required, so a valid Class 5 driver's licence and access to a vehicle are needed.
- Wage employees receive 11.6% in addition to regular pay instead of paid holidays and vacation.
