This is an open competition, so anyone who meets the requirements can apply. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Current forensic pathology fellows who are eligible are also encouraged to apply.
Education: Medical degree is required, plus board certification in Anatomical or General Pathology (or equivalent) and subspecialty training or certification in Forensic Pathology.
Experience: Years of experience affect pay. Specific years of experience are not stated.
What they ask for:
- Subspecialty training in a recognized forensic pathology program.
- Board certification in Anatomical or General Pathology, or equivalent.
- Medical degree and a licence or eligibility for CPSA licensure.
- In-depth knowledge of medical, forensic and toxicological aspects of sudden death.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
2 Resume and cover letter

4 Interview, tests and references
If you are shortlisted, they contact you, often by email. Interviews can be in person or by video, and some jobs also have a written or practical test. Have two or three references ready: former supervisors who know your work.

- This is a 3-year contract that can be renewed based on performance evaluations.
- Final candidates must go through a security screening.
- A valid driver's licence is required, and travel of up to 25% may be needed, including to other provinces or territories.
